Are you an enthusiastic, dedicated Education welfare officer looking for your next role? 4Recruitment Services are recruiting an education welfare officer to lead on Elective Home Education (EHE) and Child Employment for the Education Welfare Service and provide high quality advice and guidance to the team, parents, schools and practitioners in the Children and Young People department in and around the Northwest London Area

Job information: Pay Rate: £21.09 - £26.00 per hour umbrella rates - 36 hours per week.

**Information on the Role**:

- Strong background within education, early help, or social care.
- Successfully supporting a family in need.
- Sound working knowledge of safeguarding issues, policies, procedures, managing risk and implementing successful strategies to safeguard vulnerable children.
- Experience of managing the competing demands of a wide and varied caseload.
- Understanding of Signs of Safety practice and/ or how to provide a ‘whole family’ approach to working with families and multidisciplinary partners.
- Evidence of working in a diverse community and tailoring interventions to different cultural needs.
- Ability to engage constructively with and relate to a wide range of children and families/carers with different cultural and social backgrounds.
- Evidence of contributing and improving team working.
- Experience of delivering training to other professionals and addressing audiences of professionals in formal meetings.
- Working in a fast-paced environment with high referral rates.

**Job Purpose**:

- To lead on Elective Home Education (EHE) and Child Employment for the Education
- Welfare Service and provide high quality advice and guidance to the team, parents, schools and practitioners in the Children and Young People department. To have a good level of understanding about the reasons why parents choose to home educate and create positive links and engagement with families in order to assess the suitability of education provided.
- To have good knowledge of Child Employment Legislation and EWS Performance Licence
- and Application Policy and be able to issue performance licences and child work permits
- effectively and timely within the legislation and guidance.
- Take appropriate action when there are concerns that a home educated child is not
- receiving a suitable education, engage with parents and other professional to resolve this
- and as a last resort initiate proceedings to prosecute parents when they fail to secure
- education for their children and are in breach of a school attendance orders (SAO) under
- section 443 of the Education Act 1996.
- Issue Child Performance licences when children are acting in TV, film, theatre or taking part in a modelling assignment, to ensure that children are adequately safeguarded.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Excellent knowledge of implementing safeguarding strategies.
- In-depth knowledge of Elective Home Education and Child Employment legislation.
