**_Post: Learning Support Assistant _**

**_Responsible to: Headteacher and SENCO _**
- Key purpose of the job: To work with the Class Teacher in planning and delivering the curriculum _
- appropriate for one pupil. _
- Key areas of responsibility: _
- 1. Supporting the teacher _
- _To work with the Class Teacher to provide activities appropriate to the educational, social _
- and cultural needs of one child. _
- _To work with the pupil to ensure effective learning of the Learning Objectives specified by _
- the teacher and outside agencies. _
- _To provide regular feedback about the child to the teacher. _
- _To be aware of Wood End School policies and practices and implement them. _
- _To keep all information regarding parents, and the child (which is made available to you _
- as a result of your work) as confidential to yourself and the class teacher. _
- _To assist the teacher by preparing resources and doing photocopying. _
- _To assist teacher in record keeping and filing about the pupil. _
- 2. Supporting the pupil: _
- _To develop knowledge for and an understanding of the child’s specific learning needs. _
- _To establish a supportive relationship with the pupil. _
- _To encourage acceptance and inclusion of the pupil with special needs with his/her peers _
- and the rest of the school. _
- _To read, understand and implement as directed by the class teacher the pupil’s Individual _
- Education Plan / Personal learning targets. _
- _To develop methods and activities to aid the pupil to learn as effectively as possible both in _
- group situations and as individuals. _
- _To follow the Wood End Behaviour Policy. _
- _To develop methods of promoting/reinforcing the pupil’s self esteem. _
- _To develop awareness of the National Curriculum, especially in English and Mathematics. _
- _To provide intimate care as appropriate and in line with the schools / Herts safeguarding _
- policy. _
- 3. Other duties _
- _To attend in house Teaching Assistant training sessions each half term. _
- _To attend whole school INSET, as required by the Headteacher. _
- _To undertake Appraisal procedures. _
- _To undertake personal training and development as required. _
- _To be constantly aware of Health and Safety issues in regard to the school premises, _
- children other staff and parents. _
- _To carry out any other duties that reasonably corresponds to the general nature of the _
- post. _

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: £22,737.00-£23,500.00 per year

Expected hours: 27.5 per week
