**Contracts Executive**

**A leading organisation based in Belfast who specialise within research and services are currently seeking a Contracts Executive to join their team due to continued growth.**

This is a Full-Time, Permanent Position

Working hours: (37 hours per week) - with the possibility of hybrid working

With a salary of £39,748 - £42,639 per annum (dependent on experience)

May be required to travel to other sites as required.

**Job Purpose**:
As Contracts Executive, you will be responsible for managing the interests of the business in developing, negotiating, and executing contracts and agreements. You will also be required to provide advice to senior management and staff.

**Essential Criteria**:

- Be a Law Graduate.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in providing legal advice on commercial agreements and Intellectual Property matters.
- Experience in providing legal advice on GDPR and data protection law.
- Experience of drafting commercial agreements and of contract negotiation.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal - with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels (internal and external).
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload while adhering to deadlines.
- Ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.

**Desirable Criteria**:

- A qualified solicitor, able to practice in N Ireland.
- Experience of working within the public sector or a government body/department and an understanding of all relevant governance structures and arrangements.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Supporting the Head of the Research Support Office in the implementation of business objectives and assisting the Solicitor/Principal Legal Adviser to realise them.
- Providing clear, accurate and authoritative legal advice on all aspects of legal and associated corporate governance matters (to include data protection, procurement, and freedom of information law), primarily related to research, commercial and intellectualproperty matters.
- Liaising with the Corporate Governance and Information Management team to provide advice relating to the EU General Data Protection Regulation, UK Data Protection law and Freedom of Information law and drafting and/or reviewing Data Sharing Agreements.
- Drafting, negotiating, and approving research, funding, and commercial contracts.
- Assisting in the development of policies to ensure that legal and associated corporate governance and contract management matters, including contracts and intellectual property, are managed appropriately and in accordance with best practice.
- Instructing and supervising external legal advisers and patent attorneys as appropriate.
- Reporting on legal advice received from external legal advisers to Senior management and staff and liaising with them to bring matters to a satisfactory completion.
- Assisting with the co-ordination of other legal advice, for example, related to property or litigation matters.
- Contributing to the achievement of the Research Support Office Business Plan.
- Building effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Providing administrative support to ensure the maintenance, registration and updating ofregistered intellectual property.
- Assisting the Principal Legal Adviser.
- Acting as a Solicitor approver of contracts on the internal contracts approval system.
