**Linen Porter**

Needham House Hotel is looking for a Linen Porter to join the Housekeeping team, reporting to the Housekeeping Manager.

**Purpose of position**
- To be responsible for all linen within the hotel, inclusive of (but non
- exhaustive) delivery and collection of linen several times a week
- To support the Housekeeping Manager and room attendants as and when required
- To maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness within the linen stores, bedrooms and public areas, as specified by the Housekeeping Manager, to create a pleasant environment for guests
**Tools and Equipment**
- Vacuum cleaner, Carpet cleaner, Linen trolley, Washing machine, Tumble dryer
- Chemicals, Personal protective equipment, Micro fibre cloths
**Daily Responsibilities**
- Ensure personal hygiene and appearance meets hotel standards at all times, and a professional image portrayed to guests. That own clothing is maintained and in good repair
- To sign on-duty, collect work allocation, sign for keys that are required prior to commencing your shift
- To perform the sorting and allocation of all linen to ensure sufficient stock is available for each allocated area and period between deliveries
- To check all laundry in and out, ensuring all documentation is checked and completed as necessary
- To maintain periodic cleaning duties and related checklists as and when required e.g. shower heads, vacuum cleaners, mattress turning
- To make sure chemicals/equipment are used correctly and safety procedures are adhered to at all times
- To check in deliveries/ allocate to store room. Invoices/delivery notes to Housekeeping manager
- To perform and maintain cleaning and maintenance of all Housekeeping storage areas, guest room corridor/areas to the required standard
- To assist room attendants in ensuring all linen trolleys are stocked to requirements
- To report any maintenance to the Housekeeping manager/Property Maintenance manager as soon as possible
- To provide guests with requested service at all times, e.g. Iron/ironing board, hair dryer, tea-tray products, toiletries etc
- To assist in the moving of furniture, beds, z-beds and cots when required/or no longer needed
- To attend any meetings requested or training courses where necessary e.g. Health and Safety, COSH, Fire Safety
- To inform Housekeeping of any special requests / requirements e.g. extra duvet, pillow, blanket
**Periodic Duties**
- To assist in the cleaning of the Public areas when support required
- To perform re-hooking /hanging of curtains/blinds, changing light bulb
- To perform spring cleaning room
- To perform in stock take as and when required
- To perform spot cleaning of carpets and upholstery
- To be flexible in shift work including weekends and evenings
- To assist with light maintenance issues when required e.g. changing light bulb, re-hanging curtain
- To assist with deep cleaning when required
- To perform a monthly check on PPE and equipment, stock control of cleaning chemicals
**Occasional Duties**
- To carry out any other reasonable requests as directed by your manager
**Health and Safety**
- To be aware of, and comply with, safe working practise as laid down under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and Company H & S Manual, as applicable to your place of work. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards at your work place.
- To be aware of, and comply with Food Acts.
- To wear any appropriate protective clothing provided by or recommended by the Hotel.
- To report any defects in the building, plant or equipment according to the Hotel procedures.
- To ensure any accidents to colleagues, guests or visitors are reported in accordance with Hotel procedures.
- To attend 6 monthly statutory fire training and to be fully conversant with and abide by all rules concerning, fire, health & safety.
- To attend any training deemed appropriate by your Head of Department. This job description is intended to illustrate the main duties and areas of responsibility of the job of a Linen Porter.
