Position Summary
We are looking to add some additional support within our Depot in Toton and Crewe and are looking to engage a number of new Locomotive Fitters ideally to commence work within the next 2-8 weeks
Person Profile/Experience:
A skilled Technician/Mechanic and ideally time served, you will have previous experience of undertaking maintenance, service and repair work on Diesel and/or Electric Locomotives, ideally on the underframes, bogies and wheelsets. You'll have the ability tomake sound engineering decisions and will have good communication skills, written and oral.
Adhere to health and safety and local safety policy requirements, and other safety and technical standards. Comply with all instructions, rules and regulations in force
Maintain, service, fault find and repair Locomotives in accordance with the approved maintenance plans as required by the local manager
Ensure all relevant paperwork for examinations and repairs is correctly completed on time and to required company standards
You will be physically fit and healthy, you will be required to undertake a NWR related medical and drugs & alcohol test which must be passed before any offer can be made, have a good sense of humour and be prepared to work outdoors where required.
Due to the nature of the work/role, an appreciation of H&S at work is essential, plus in line with Rail Industry Protocols there is a zero policy re being under the influence of Drugs or Alcohol
Key Criteria:
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a Mechanical/Electrical fitting skill set
2 years previous experience in a related discipline, transferrable skills
Team Player
Excellent work ethic
Punctual and reliable
Must be able to work a shift pattern, mornings, afternoons and nights
