To collect blood by venepuncture from patients on the wards of Southlands and Worthing Hospitals in an efficient, safe and timely manner. To collect blood by venepuncture from patients in the Outpatients of the Pathology Department when required. To deal with enquiries from users, patients and other members of staff in a polite and helpful manner, seeking scientific staff advice where required. To ensure that patients are greeted in a polite and helpful manner.

To prepare blood collection trays and to help maintain stocks of needles and sample tubes in the examination rooms of the Department. To assist in the Specimen Reception / Pathology Office when required To undertake such duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibility of the grade and needs of the service To work in accordance with Departmental Policy and Standard Operating Procedures. To conform to the office, laboratory and hospital safety procedures and Code of Safe Practice. Use Order Comms systems to generate phlebotomy ward rounds, collect samples and generate labels.
