Romford, United Kingdom Barking Havering and Redbridge Univ Hospitals NHS Trust Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Therapy Assistant looking to join our Acute Respiratory, Critical Care & Surgery team. Our teamsof Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Assistants are based within a large acute Trust. This post will provide successful applicants opportunities to work with the team to rehabilitate patients within an acute surgical/vascular setting. This post requires you to collect information from patients and families, prepare patients for treatment sessions, carry out treatments and order and maintain equipment as directed by a qualified therapist. The post holder needs to be driven to provide high quality care, working closely with other professions to ensure excellent patient outcomes. This post is for 22.5 hours per week

**This post offers the following opportunities**:

- Joint working with Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in a clinical and non-clinical support role with support from our Multi-disciplinary team
- In-house training to allow you to develop your understanding of common conditions and their management
- Cover surgical and vascular areas and working cross site if necessary

To provide skilled routine, and non-routine, clinical and non-clinical support to the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Team and any other professional staff, and clerical staff associated with the team.

To accept routine patient referrals as defined within the framework matrix and assess and treat according to protocols and guidelines. To monitor patient progression and make alterations to intervention as required. To discharge routine patients once their therapeutic goals have been met and an appropriate discharge plan established.

To work independently, with access to direct supervision as required. To maintain close communication with the Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist/team to facilitate patient care.

Under the leadership of our Chair, Jacqui Smith and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive we provide care for the residents of three diverse London boroughs. More than half of our 7,500 strong workforce are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and most live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge. We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.

Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals, operating from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic and Harold Wood Polyclinic.

As we recover from Covid-19, we’re proud to be leading the way in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The pandemic provided the drive for our teams to innovate and change.

We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and this will be one of the many benefits of our closer collaboration with Barts Health. Working with them and with all our partners across north east London, we will find a sustainable solution to enhance patient care.

We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We’re also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.
