Enfield Crematorium was opened in 1938 and is one of London's largest. The crematorium has two chapels, which can both hold approximately 150 people. The grounds cover approximately 50 acres, most of which are dedicated to the Gardens of Remembrance. Our team works hard to maintain our grounds to ensure we offer all our visitors a place of tranquillity where they can come and remember their loved ones. To support our current team we now have the opportunity for a grounds person to join us on a full-time basis.

**What Will I Be Doing as a Grounds person?**

As a Grounds person, you will be carrying out a full range of gardening & horticultural tasks, including building new gardens and maintaining a high-quality environment.

Other duties will include:

- Take care of the grounds, keeping them maintained and presentable
- Supporting the creation of memorial gardens and plots to client specification
- Make sure graves are dug appropriately for the deceased and maintain graves as needed for the friends and family of the deceased
- Dealing with visitors' enquiries
- Construct, place, and fix memorials and subsequently maintain them to the highest standard
- Clear the grounds, paths, and roadways of litter
- Operate the cremators and ancillary equipment in accordance with manufacturers' guidelines (Full training will be provided)
- Input & maintain records on computers to comply with industry regulations
- Ensure the safe custody of ashes in the care of the crematorium

**Other duties will include**:

- Ensure consistent delivery of the highest levels of client service
- Proactively seek out and implement opportunities to improve the service levels provided to branches
- Ensure all members of staff have been trained to perform all functions of their job; and details of this training are recorded and regularly reviewed, providing refresher training where necessary
- Implement measures to monitor and improve operational efficiency within the service centre
- Manage, support, and work closely with the Funeral Service Operatives, Diary, Mortuary, Workshop and Administration teams
- Work closely with and build successful, respectful relationships with Business Leaders and their teams responsible for the branch network to best effect operational decisions, encouraging all staff within remit to do the same
- Work with and provide support to the Business Leaders, Regional Service Delivery Lead, Head of Region, other Care Centre Managers, and the greater area as required
- Understand the roles of and provide cover for colleagues within the Care Centre as necessitated by operational demand

**What Do I Need?**
- Horticultural/Gardening/landscaping experience is preferred.
- Willingness to learn, develop your skills and undertake training courses
- Experience in operating mechanical gardening equipment is advantageous, although training can be provided for this
- Is comfortable with manual handling tasks
- Excellent attention to detail is essential
- Good communication skills
- Comfortable working in a team or carrying out tasks by yourself
- You will need to be comfortable working in all weather conditions (an appropriate uniform is provided)

**What Do I Get?**
- An annual salary of £27,144.00 (£13.05 per hour, based on a 40 hour working week)
- Accruing 22 - 25 days holiday + bank holidays
