**NIGHTS TRUNKER DRIVER (CAT C+E)

Charles Saunders Ltd are currently seeking a Nights CLASS 1 / CAT C+E Trunker Driver to join our transport team on a full time, permanent basis.

**Salary**: Competitive

Hours: Average 45 hours per week; Monday-Friday, Start time between 1:30am & 2:00am. Hours are variable depending on workload. We cannot guarantee daily finish times due to the nature of the work.

We supply a full range of frozen, chilled and ambient foods, together with an extensive range of non-food catering products. We deliver to a variety of businesses including restaurants, pubs, hospitals, care homes and pretty much anywhere with a commercial kitchen.

**ABOUT THE POSITION

**This position will suit someone who has a Full UK CAT C + E / CLASS 1 Driving License, is enthusiastic, has a flexible attitude and is comfortable with night time driving and working alone.

Applicants looking for their first CAT C + E driving job will be considered and training can be provided.

**Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Driving an arctic overnight to transport palletised goods between our Bristol depot based in Yate and our Poole depot, in order for our Poole depot to have the required stock to distribute to our customers for next day delivery.
- Assisting with deliveries in Southampton and Portsmouth where required
- Loading and unloading pallets onto and from the vehicle.
- Recording temperature of the vehicles chiller and freezer ensuring temperatures are kept within the critical limits, reporting any issues to the Transport management team.
- Driving safely and in a manner to minimise wear and tear.
- Completing relevant paperwork and returning it to the Transport management team.
- Ensuring your vehicle is kept clean and tidy inside and out

**SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:
**Company Drivers will be expected to have the following skills / attributes:

- Must hold a CAT C+E (Class 1) licence and have less than 6 points on your licence.
- Must be comfortable working alone, driving during the night.
- A CPC Driver Qualification is required, the company can provide assistance with obtaining this if required.
- Previous knowledge of using a Digital Tachograph is desirable, the company can assist with training if required
- Must be able to demonstrate excellent driving skills in a variety of conditions, and must have knowledge of traffic laws and standard practices of courtesy on the road
- Must have a positive, proactive and enthusiastic personality and demonstrate an individual commitment to providing superior customer service on a consistent basis.
- Must be presentable to promote the company image in a positive manner
- Knowledge of manual handling techniques is required, you will need to be physically fit for this position as the job involves a lot of manual handling of heavy goods.
- Good level of numeracy and English literacy. You will be required to read and select orders from paper based sheets so it essential all applicants can read and write English.
- Ability to work alone with minimum supervision. Able to take direction from supervisor and follow instructions.
- Honest, reliable, trustworthy character with a strong work ethic and a flexible and adaptable attitude to work.
- Previous experience of working with food products is desirable but not essential.
- The company will consider applicants who have newly obtained their CAT C + E licence without prior experience, internal company training can be provided.
