Key aspects of the role
- Identifying, disseminating and capturing for future reference, and through a variety of media, key relevant legal and procedural developments, cases, news and articles to the various departments in the Commercial Disputes Group and, where appropriate, otherdepartments within the wider firm
- Assisting with the creation and management of precedents and additional legal knowledge and know-how for use by the Commercial Disputes Group and, where appropriate, wider firm
- Pro-active support in the identification, drafting and publication of thought leadership articles
- Pro-active support in identifying and preparing responses to relevant consultations and/or lobbying opportunities on behalf of the firm
- Carrying out research on discrete points of law and procedure
- Identifying areas of risk and/or compliance and considering methods, processes and guidance which would assist the department and, where appropriate, wider firm, in minimising such risks
- Devising and implementing processes and procedures to enable best practice in the delivery of our legal services and to ensure compliance with any and all relevant regulatory obligations and internal practice and/or business management policies and principles
- Identifying training needs of lawyers and paralegals within the Commercial Disputes Group; working with the L&D team to design and deliver appropriate training sessions and/or programmes; and, where appropriate, creating and delivering certain trainingand supporting training materials, themselves
- Working with heads of departments to ensure department know-how, training and guidance needs and expectations are met
Essential skills and experience
- England & Wales qualified lawyer with at least 5 years' PQE in complex commercial disputes
- Excellent legal analysis, drafting, reporting, data management and IT skills as well as written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Well organised, driven, with strong attention to detail, sound judgement and decision making skills and an ability to manage own workload and to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Promotes teamwork; shares information and insights; and inspires and influences for optimal performance
- Shows commitment, passion and enthusiasm for knowledge sharing and best practice
- Reflects the firm's culture
Desirable skills and/or experience:
- PSL/KDL/knowledge role or involvement
- Legal training development and/or delivery
- Project management
