Coastal Grains Ltd is a large and growing grain cooperative with full TASCC registration, we are based in North Northumberland and have over 100 farmer members located from as far as the Scottish Borders all the way down to Hexham in South Northumberland.

**Main Accountability**:
It is an exciting time for us and we continually strive to improve our business performance. Our Plant Operatives (PO) are a huge part of our operation and work across every area of the plant undertaking a variety of crucial tasks to maintain our high standards.
You will be part of a busy team who are committed to Coastal Grains. In joining this team, you will be supported in your role via a team of mentors and you will be responsible for your performance.

**Salary & Benefits**:

- £20,000 to £30,000 (overtime hours available through the harvest months July-September)

**Responsibilities**

**Roles & Responsibilities**:

- To operate effectively, the drying of grain and other products, as part of a small team
- The safe loading and unloading of lorries as instructed
- Carry out and record all quality checks on the grain and other products at specified intervals, (escalating any non-conformances)
- Assist in the smooth running, servicing and maintenance of plant machinery and equipment.
- Complete all paperwork in a timely and accurate fashion to ensure full traceability,
- To maintain a Safe, Healthy and hygienic work place. Work safely and improve safety through plant systems. (Near Misses)
- Take responsibility and ownership for the area that you work in and the plant in general. This includes good housekeeping, hygiene and ensuring company standards are met.
- Ability to work on your own and in a small team.

**Qualifications**

**Qualifications and requirements**:

- Previous experience in grain handling and plant maintenance would be desirable but not essential
- All basic training will be provided, however, good numeric and computer skills are an advantage,
- Ability to work well within a team environment - with good communication skills,
- Ability to operate machinery and carry out minor adjustments to machines if required,
- Results focused to ensure that all targets are met,
- Strong communications skills, verbal and written,
- Self motivated and uses initiative,
- Strong team player who adopts continuous improvement approach,
- Promotes safe working practices.

**Salary**: £19,000.00-£30,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Overtime

- Belford, NE70 7DT: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
