We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced **Head Gardener** to play a key role in the renowned Larch Cottage Nurseries and award winning gardens. You must have good plant knowledge and proven experience in a similar role.

Larch Cottage Nurseries in the heart of the Eden Valley is host to over 15,000 varieties of plants, the vast majority of which are propagated on-site. We specialise in rare and unusual Shrubs, Perennials, and Climbers, Japanese Acers, Old Fashioned Roses, and slow growing and Dwarf Conifers. For many of these varieties we are the country’s only suppliers as listed in the RHS Bible, The Plantfinder.

As Head Gardener you will be responsible for 2 or 3 assistant gardeners and as a team you will be looking after the Secret Garden which holds borders of lush flower beds, a wildflower meadow, an orchard and lawns with a stream leading down into a small lake with the chapel at its head. In addition you will also oversee the organic kitchen garden which serves our restaurant for most of the summer.

We are looking for someone with horticultural experience and a good plant knowledge. Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are essential

Main duties will include:

- To propagate plants from the border
- To maintain labelling of all stock plants within borders
- To operate and maintain machinery and hand tools
- To become competent with our in-house stock system for labelling, plant look up etc.
- To ensure that operating procedures are complied with and implemented
- To ensure compliance with relevant legislation at all times

Salary dependent upon experience.

**Salary**: £27,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
