**The Role of U9-U14 Physio / Sports Therapist**

Working within the Academy Medical Department, reporting to the Lead U9-U16 Physiotherapist, the role will be responsible for the development and delivery of physiotherapy services to squads across the Foundation and Lower Youth Development Phase age groups.

We are looking for a pro-active individual with a forward-thinking and problem-solving attitude, and who seeks to develop their skills.

**Main Accountabilities**
- To ensure that any concerns you observe, or are raised with you in your role, are shared with the Safeguarding Team through appropriate channels.

**Management of Injuries**
- To provide musculoskeletal diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation to all Foundation and Lower Youth Development Phase groups.
- To provide, or ensure provision of, Academy training and matchday cover, home and away, as required.
- To perform clear and structured injury assessments to ensure accurate injury diagnosis and associated detailed rehabilitation plans.
- To provide gym and pitch-based rehabilitation and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure optimal transition from rehabilitation into the technical program.

**Injury Prevention**
- In conjunction with the Lead U9-U16 Physiotherapist, develop and implement injury prevention strategies alongside coaches and performance staff.
- Undertake regular physical screening with all Foundation and Lower Youth Development Phase players, relevant to their stage of development.
- Understanding of growth and maturation and its implications on the development of athletes.
- Assist in the creation and delivery of an age-appropriate medical education curriculum.
- To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team including doctors, performance staff and coaching staff to optimise player physical development and performance.

**Medical Provision at Matches, Training and Tours**
- To perform and record daily/weekly medical emergency equipment checks.
- To coordinate and supervise a small group of part-time Academy Therapists to ensure that all Academy activities are covered from a medical perspective.
- Working with the Lead Academy Doctor and Lead U9-U16 Physiotherapist, ensure that appropriate medical provision is in place for all Foundation and Youth Development Phase tours.
- Pre-signing medicals/medical consultations.
- Play an active role within the pre-signing medical of Academy Foundation Phase players liaising closely with the Lead Academy Doctor and Lead U9-U16 Physiotherapist.
- When necessary, accompany players to medical consultations at short notice (either in this country or abroad), ensuring the player receives optimal care and advice at all times.

**General Medical Dept Accountabilities**
- To maintain up to date medical records using the Kitman Labs/PMA medical records system.
- Ensure individual qualifications, training and CPD requirements are kept up to date and in line with any applicable regulations.
- Awareness of the expectations of Category 2 and 1 Academies according to the EPPP.
- Ensure all key administrative tasks are completed and appropriately managed:

- Working in conjunction with the Lead U9-U16 Physiotherapist, review the EPPP document four times a year and review/update KPI targets.
- Any other relevant tasks and duties as directed by senior Academy or Football Department management.
- Ensure that all players’ specific medical information is provided to the parent/guardian of individual players as appropriate.

**Continued Professional Development**
- Take responsibility for continued personal professional development and keep an up-to-date portfolio of achievements.
