**Job summary**:
To deliver advanced Musculoskeletal therapy assessment and treatment of paediatric patients.

Act as a source of expertise to fellow clinicians, managers, Healthcare Professionals and

other services internal and external to the Trust as required.

The post holder will be required to work effectively in collaboration with the multidisciplinary

team, other health professionals to promote the development, planning and delivery of

intervention programmes and training in the specialist clinical area.

To undertake the role of Outpatient Musculoskeletal lead within paediatric physiotherapy to include leading with planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the outpatient paediatric therapy service.

To undertake clinical audits and evaluation of evidence-based practice, initiating/participating in research within specialist area. To manage, supervise and appraise staff and students within the specialist area.

This post is based at our Heartlands site, however, as the Trust is a multi-site organisation you may be required to work at any of the Trust sites and may need to change your normal place of work, either temporarily or on a permanent basis because of development or reorganisation of Trust services.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:

- To deliver advanced Musculoskeletal assessment, management and treatment of paediatric outpatients, some with diverse presentations and complex conditions; to develop and deliver individualised specialist treatment programmes.
- To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records.
- To supervise, initiate and participate in regular evidence-based audit and research projects to further clinical practice. Make recommendations to Clinical Team Leader for changes to practice by the team. Lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols within area of practice.
- To use advanced communication skills of persuasion, negotiation, motivation and explanation to address informal complaints and encourage patients, carers and/or staff where there will often be barriers to effective communication which could include compromised speech / functional / cognitive ability, resistance, fear, pain or embarrassment.
- To effectively communicate with patients, carers and all relevant individuals, departments and agencies to maximise rehabilitation potential and to ensure understanding of the condition and therapeutic process.

**Essential**:

- Good standard of general education including English language and mathematics, A levels or equivalent
- Degree in Physiotherapy
- Registered with HCPC as a Physiotherapist.
- Evidence of relevant postgraduate training in specialist area

**Desirable**:

- Leadership training
- Postgraduate advanced accredited training within specialist area
- Registered member of the Chartered society of Physiotherapists
- Registered member of Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists

**Experience**:
**Essential**:

- Relevant postgraduate experience in specialist areas relevant to the post
- Experience of NHS based work
- Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including recent courses relevant to Musculoskeletal physiotherapy
