Raw Materials Planner

Working as part of a team within the department that identifies, plans, orders and receives Raw Materials to satisfy demand of compound and blends on site, driven by the transport & production plans whilst adhering to Inventory, manufacturing and logisticstargets.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To manage at the lowest cost distribution of raw materials to plants, ensuring all their requirements are met and making any necessary changes to schedules.
Logistics & Planning:

- Ensure that Raw Material supply contracts are used correctly, paying attention to validity periods, rent due dates and the geographical location of where the material is located, whereby you resolve short term, supply problems at the least cost to the companypossible.
- To monitor the planning and progress of RM orders to ensure that loads arrive at mills on time.
- The early identification of Raw Material shortages to the relevant Raw Material Manager is an important feature of the job.
- To ensure continuity of supply and quality of specified Raw Materials, on a best cost basis, to meet plant demand, making any necessary changes to schedules.
- To anticipate potential shortages in supply and inform the relevant Raw Material Manager and Formulator of any expected problems.
- To confirm progress of RM orders, when requested, to ensure that loads arrive at mills on time.
- Process purchase requisitions created by Mill Planners into purchase orders, where required, from the relevant contract or information record.
- To skilfully use the SAP computer system to optimise allocations of raw materials on a National basis but ensuring the integrity of mill based cost books.
- Create and maintain a good working relationship with Suppliers and Mill Planners, whereby you challenge and recommend improvements to mill operational practices where unsolicited raw material costs are incurred.
Storage & Haulage:

- To ensure rent and storage costs are kept to a minimum.
- Liaise with storekeepers to ensure satisfactory storage and collection of raw materials and deal with routine queries that may arise.
- Maintain contact with third party hauliers and encourage best working practises to ensure a good standard of cleanliness, traceability and service in
- accordance with the TASCC code of practice.
- Assist in the auditing of suppliers/hauliers/stores as required.
Contract Admin:

- Ensure contracts are closed down or extended as required in a timely manner.
- Ensure contracts are administered correctly and closed down when completed ensuring the integrity of ForFarmers' contract data.
- Collect analysis rebates where applicable.
- For nominated raw materials where quality is below contractual, ensure claims are made/received for the lower quality raw materials.
- Resolve contract queries as required on both an internal and external basis in collaboration with various stakeholders.

2 years planning experience in Transport/storage/production ideal but not essential
Computer literate - use of Logistics planning systems advantageous
Logical, Numerate, Analytical and great organisation skills
Good communicator
Persuasive
Team player
Able to on occasion visit other sites.
