Our local authority client has a 3-month contract vacancy (with the possibility of extension) for the role of a COMMISSIONING MANAGER (MENTAL HEALTH AND LEARNING DISABILITIES), details as follows

**Job Purpose**

To be ensuring that we are making best use of community-based prevention and that for mental health, recovery is at the heart of our approach, ensuring support is available to people within their local communities, reducing hospital admissions where safeto do so.

**Responsibilities**
- Supporting the development and implementation of delivery plans for our commissioning strategies
- Take responsibility for line management
- Engage and develop the local provider market
- Work with the NHS to secure appropriate service for people being discharged from hospital
- Review our provision of services for an aging population
- Work with commissioning colleagues to ensure prevention and creating independence as at the heart of what we do
- Ensure coproduction is at the heart of commissioning activity and help establish platforms in which this can happen

**E ssential Requirements**
- Good legal literacy across the Mental Health Act and Care Act, as well as Care Act Reforms.
- Have demonstrable commissioning experience in this field
- Be able to be creative and work innovatively
- Work and deliver at pace
- Work across a complex local system to ensure Dorset Council commissioning priorities are shared with partners
