In this newly created position you will support our Real Assets area - while having flexibility to work across the wider business and helping the team deliver on strategy.

The communications team is focussed on raising Legal and General Investment Management's profile and managing its reputation, underpinned by its purpose of managing ambiguity, simplifying complexity, and cutting to the core of what is important. We use our sector and media expertise, to deliver the best communications outcome, while being connected, nurturing relationships and acting in the best interests of the firm.

Given the focus of the strategy and plans for growth will be UK and international markets, there is a strong preference for someone who has worked in a global business or international agency, and may well have one or more languages, preferably Spanish, Italian or German, in addition to English.

What you'll be doing
As an in-house team, no week is the same - we have a shared team attribute of being agile, clear, structured in thinking and efficient in execution to a high standard. This role will be wide-ranging, from understanding the strategy, and how the work we do aligns to business priorities, to executing media relations, multiple writing needs such as opinion pieces, comments, releases, colleague communications and campaign execution. You will learn about integrated marketing communications, how to influence an editorial agenda, as well as working with global agency partners to deliver research, campaigns and measure the work for effectiveness and value.

You can look forward to clear opportunities to own projects, work within ‘virtual teams’ (comprising of various centres of excellence across Marketing and Communications, including Strategy, Content, Digital, Brand, Events and Operations) on wider campaigns, as well as to learn and evolve as a communications practitioner. You will support Real Assets with its media management, profile for senior leaders, features, content and campaigns, as well as growing the social media presence of the people and the business; an interest and enthusiasm for managing and being able to influence online would be useful.

The Real Assets platform is one of the UK’s largest asset managers in real estate, infrastructure and private debt - and is growing at pace. A key pillar in delivering on the L&G’s core purpose of inclusive capitalism, the platform invests in the long-term trends that transform society. With a thematic approach to investing, LGIM Real Assets is driven by the need to: transform towns and cities; drive responsible investing, ESG impact and stewardship; innovate and modernise; scale up, internationalise and diversify.

There will be a strong emphasis on how to position and profile Real Assets with the media, stakeholders and industry bodies to enhance and protect its reputation, as well as a growing confidence and capability in understanding and driving key themes such as responsible investing.

Day to day, this person will have the support and direction of two colleagues, a senior executive and a communications manager, who are dedicated to Real Assets, as well as direct exposure to senior stakeholders. Learning will be through a hands-on approach as well as supported with a bespoke learning programme, and regular development and education opportunities presented within the business.

What we're looking for
You will be degree qualified with a demonstrable interest in media, digital services and social media. You;ll bring some experience in a PR/media relations/communication/relevant role, or an agency serving a comparable firm, or industry. You'll be a self starter, willing to work closely with a team and keen to learn from others. You'll also need a desire to grow a skill-set which includes strong stakeholder management, relationship-building outside of the firm including media, to work across diverse groups of people, to plan and map activity, and to develop plans and execute with clear-thinking and high standards or delivery.
