**MS272 - Battery Technician**
**Location**: M4 Corridor
**Salary**: £25,000 + 15% shift allowance. Overtime is also payable at 1.25 times the contracted hourly rate. Company van, pension and medical scheme provided.
The Battery Technician will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of the high-capacity battery systems connected to Rotary and Static UPS systems. The job is field based and will involve visiting customer sites throughout the UK either as an independentteam or together with our one or more UPS Technicians. The Battery Technicians are employed on a 5 day contract 08:30 - 17:00hrs Monday to Friday, which requires them to be available for work 4 weekend days per month if required. A high degree of flexibilityis required to enable us to keep pace with the ever-changing demands of our customer base.
**Main Responsibilities**:

- Take measurements of battery block impedance and voltage using electronic battery test instruments. When necessary, the Battery Technicians will be responsible for the removal and replacement of old or unserviceable battery blocks.
- Lifting and positioning of heavy battery blocks onto multi-tiered stands.
- Ensure arrival at site, on time, with all of the necessary tools, spares and equipment required to complete the assigned task. (All tools and instrumentation are provided and maintained by the company).
- Be available to attend customer’s sites at any time of day or night if required to do so when on call.
- Must be prepared to work regular weekends and occasional nights and be available to travel countrywide and occasionally to Europe, they must also be prepared to occasionally stay away from home.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- City & Guild qualified Electrical Engineer or higher.
- 17th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Clean driving licence.
- Well-presented, confident person with good oral and written communication skills.
- Flexible and can cope with change at short notice.
- Able to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Computer literate: Be able to navigate directory structures and use standard MS type office packages.
- Good self-organisation and will be expected to manage their time, equipment, company vehicle and reports.
- Able to present paperwork and electronic submissions within specified timeframes.
- Good practical, technical and problem-solving skills.
- Due to the work undertaken a good level of physical fitness is required.
