**Job title**:Caretaker / General Maintenance
**Location**: Stevenage
**Pay**: £11 per hour
**Contract**:Temp to perm, permanent, full-time 37.5 hours per week
**Job role**: Recruit Mint Education is looking to appoint a reliable full-time Caretaker to join a fascinating growing primary school in Stevenage. School holiday times are used to follow the repair and maintenance schedule to paint and redecorateclassrooms and oversee contractors.
**Job responsibilities**:
- responsibility for the security of the permises, health & safety, minor repairs, some cleaning, property maintenance and some grounds maintenance
- opening the school permises, check stocks of replenishments, overseeing other cleaners
- provide a safe and welcoming environment for our children and staff to work and learn in
- oversee arranging for outside contractors to sort necessary work
- follow the routine schedule in liaison with the Deputy Head
**Skills and experience required:**
- practical with good DIY skills especially carpentry
- understand safe working practices and health and safety legislation
- be able to interpret technical information
- be well-organised and capable of prioritising own work
- be happy to work alone and as part of a team
- be flexible and enjoy a varied routine whilst maintaining a good sense of humor is essential
