Here at the FfWHR we are looking to consolidate our position as one of the premier tourist attractions in North Wales. Our Engineering Works delivers a unique blend of innovation and preservation as we look after the old and the new. Increasingly our work involves sharing our history and skills with a wider audience. We are looking for someone to join the permanent staff team working in this unique and rewarding environment.
The role of Maintenance Fitter in our engineering workshop team is at the heart of our operation which needs someone that can think on their feet and turn their hand to a wide range of tasks. The Workshops are responsible for building and maintaining a large fleet of rolling stock. We also undertake contract work for other Heritage Railways and similar organisations.
**We can offer you**:
- Salaries in the range of £23,150 - £25,355 per annum dependent on experience
- Permanent, full time position; 40 hours per week, usually Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend working as required.
- A minimum of 28 days paid holiday, inclusive of all bank and public holidays

Knowledge of the workings of Steam and Diesel locomotives would be advantageous, but not essential. We appreciate that knowledge of this kind of work is often built on experience as much as formal training and so we are keen to hear from anyone who feels they can demonstrate suitable experience. We may also be able to enhance your skills profile through further training.
**Core Skills**:
- Proven experience of mechanical fitting
- Knowledge of pressurised pipelines and valve maintenance an advantage
- Varied experience of gearboxes, internal combustion engines, bearings, lubrication systems an advantage
- The ability to carry out simple turning and milling tasks on various machine tools would also be advantageous, though in house training will be given.
- NVQ level 2 or higher (or similar) qualifications are desirable but not essential
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Good time management skills
- Ability to work in a team
- Record keeping as per the company’s current systems
- The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh is desirable
