An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Matron Mental Health to join the Offender Health Directorate working at HMP Fosse Way. HMP Fosse Way is set to open in mid-2023 and is a Category C Resettlement Prison.

HMP Fosse Way will house 1,715 prisoners and focus on the rehabilitation of offenders and their reintegration back into society. It consists of 7 House blocks across 4 floors. There is a dedicated healthcare suite located in the main building with also additional multi use rooms across the establishment including rooms for groups or 1-2-1’s.

To be responsible for the clinical management and leadership of the Integrated Mental Health Team within the Prison establishment.

To be responsible for the day-to-day organisation and smooth running of the multi-disciplinary team, providing a service to a diverse caseload of patients who are presenting with mental health problems and a high risk of harm.

To lead and coordinate an integrated team of healthcare professionals in the delivery of effective clinical management of patients who have a wide range of health issues.

To deliver a comprehensive integrated mental health service, ensuring assessment and planning appropriate courses of action including the use of different treatment approaches or referral to other agencies.

To ensure a co-ordinated approach for CPA.

To provide consultation and advice to primary care and substance misuse colleagues on a range of mental health issues.

To be actively involved in mental health promotion in the context of strategic planning, delivery of mental health promotion packages in partnership with other colleagues internal and external to Trust and in response to differing prison health needs.

To proactively manage and monitor clinical risk.

To access and provide clinical supervision.

To provide professional support, leadership and guidance to colleagues.
Be responsible for medicines management within the mental health team in line with Trust requirements.

The Offender Health Directorate is one of the largest and most successful providers of prison healthcare in the UK. The Directorate provide physical, mental health and substance misuse healthcare services in prisons across the East Midlands, Lincolnshire & Leicestershire.

The Directorate provides healthcare to 9 prisons and a short term holding facility. To work closely with prescribers and pharmacists.

To develop, initiate and implement pro-active care pathways.

Continually improve provision for patients developing pathways from admission to discharge, ensuring continuity of care in the community following release.

Continually evaluate and audit the effectiveness of clinical practice and develop policies and procedures to ensure high standards of clinical care.

To provide leadership to the mental health team, empowering the team to perform with high levels of motivation and commitment.

To performance manage the team regarding service delivery, patient care and clinical governance.

To provide clinical supervision to staff, developing reflective practice, give supervision and peer support.
