To ensure a successful provision of a quality, cost effective, timely service of the full range of SSD/Endoscopy services to the North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust and External Customers.

Supervision of all SSD/Endoscopy Assistants on a day to day basis and to train lesser experienced/qualified staff.

Completion of all QA testing in line with current standards and documenting results, including equipment testing of sterilisers, instrument washers and endoscope washers.

Operation of the departments computerised ‘tray traceability’ system ensuring all non conformances are logged and actioned.

Organisation of all work tasks within the department to ensure that maximum efficiency and effectiveness is achieved (including completion).

Liaison with theatre and other customers regarding the requirements of the service provided to them and any quality related issues.

Supervision of all SSD/Endoscopy Assistants on a day to day basis and to train lesser experienced/qualified staff.

Checking of trays and ensuring contents are correct and reporting any discrepancies

Receipt and inspection of incoming goods relating to the process, checking for non conformances/incorrect items etc.

Recording and handling of all customer complaints (as far as is possible within the remit of the role

Identification of all Sterile Services staff training needs and ensuring that these training needs are met.

‘Briefing’ to staff in accordance with the Trust’s briefing system on an ad-hoc basis as the need arises.

Work within the Quality Policies and Procedures and Work Instructions of ISO 13485 and completion of associated paperwork.

Maintenance and improvement of all Health and Safety Standards within the department, in collaboration with the Sterile Services Managers.

Take responsibility for personal development and education and the development of a Personal Development Plan.

Carry out annual appraisals on appropriate Sterile Services staff.
