Kilmarnock YMCA is a Youth Work and Community Charity who supports children, young people and the wider community across Kilmarnock and its surrounding areas. Kilmarnock YMCA works with all children and young people to break down barriers within the community building positive relationships with other community members and supporting them to reach their full potential through needs led strategies.

We run a wide range of activities that include mentoring, centre-based drop-ins, outdoor learning activities and young leader development.

We also have a community garden with MUGA, a drop-in service, volunteering opportunities and a café that is due to open in August 2024.

**HOURS OF WORK**

10 hours per work to be worked flexibly, opportunity for more hours depending on projects and sessions

**LENGTH OF CONTRACT**

1 Year Fixed Term contract possible extension depending on funding

**Purpose of the Role**

To assist in the delivery of a group of volunteers supporting individuals who are isolated in the community to have a safe space to engage in activities, meet new friends and be supported to overcome barriers that they face. You will also be delivering a project to support individuals to get involved within our community garden, which will allow them to learn new skills.

**Duties and Responsibilities**Smooth running of projects
- To work directly with the community to ensure their fullest possible engagement with Kilmarnock YMCA
- To provide a safe environment for community members to attend sessions.
- To provide support and guidance to service users enabling them to make informed choices that meet their needs.
- To develop positive relationships with service users which will enable their learning, growth, personal and social development and widen their experiences and horizons.
- To maintain a high quality of service to the community by the setting professional standards and working within the Community Learning and Development standards
- Encourage Service users to help plan and choose the kinds of activities that they would like to do.
- To attend and participate in regular team and planning meetings with regards to all programmes developed within the organisation.
- To be professional in all dealings with service users, and organisations whilst being approachable and welcoming.
- To ensure all relevant administration is carried out to a high standard including all monitoring and evaluation reports.
- To liaise with carers, professionals and partnership agencies.
- To adhere to all health and safety requirements of the organisation.
- To attend relevant training as required for legislative or development purposes to ensure good working practices and knowledge is maintained.
