We are currently looking for a proactive Health, Safety and Environmental Business Lead to join our Health, Safety & Environmental Team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for self-development in a diverse and forward-thinking team.

The Health, Safety and Environmental Business Lead is responsible for the development and delivery of the Torus Group Health, Safety & Environmental Policy & Strategy across the Group. The role will provide leadership to the central health and safety function and specialist environmental leadership provided by Torus Group in order to ensure that general and specialist health, safety and environmental advice, support and information is available to the required level to all stakeholders across the Group structure.

The post manages the development, implementation and continual review of a quality Health, Safety and Environmental Management System in line with legislation, best practice and audit and assessment requirements.

The Health, Safety and Environmental Business Lead will ensure that the Group is aware of all current and potential future legislative requirements and maintain its legal obligations with regards to health, safety and environmental matters. The person will also ensure that the central support team is effectively managed and resourced in order to suit the flexing needs of the organisation as it grows in size and expands in scope.

The Health, Safety and Environmental Business Lead will establish strong working relationships with the Senior Management Team and the Group’s operational functions and oversee the development and delivery of operational health and safety plans through business partnering and provision of technical support.

This is an important role in which you will:

- Have a full understanding of Health & Safety legislation and be able to drive forwards a culture that reflects legislative compliance and best practice.
- Lead a team of dedicated HS&E professionals.
- Work with external stakeholders e.g. HSE, EHO Fire Authority FSI’s.
- Have a full understanding of the current CDM Regs. and the ability to produce the relevant documentation for varied construction projects including new build.

To be successful in this role you will:

- Professional Health and Safety qualification Equivalent of NEBOSH Diploma level
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate
- Relevant CSCS Card
- Chartered member of IOSH (or working towards).
- Environmental management qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH Environmental certificate, or equivalent)
- Be highly organised with the ability to manage your time effectively.
- Be a team worker with excellent collaboration skills.
- Hold a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work.
