**About the Role**:
Audley Mills Doctors Surgery has an opportunity for a receptionist to join our team on a part-time basis for approx 20-24 hours per week (weekdays).

There is more to our receptionist roles than answering the phone and making appointments. In this essential front-line role at the practice, receptionists help patients to access the right services, assist with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date, and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

- Greeting and directing all patients;
- Triaging patients and directing them to the appropriate service
- Making / cancelling appointments
- Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.;
- Dealing with requests for information, and managing problems and complaints;
- Advising patients of practice procedures;
- Answering the telephone and dealing with queries promptly.
- Excellent communication skills, with a clear and polite telephone manner;
- Ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients at all times;
- Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations;
- Confidence to work as part of a team and ability to "think on your feet";
- Strong IT and administration skills;
- Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is essential.
- Be available to work the required start / finish times (our morning shifts start at 8am and our afternoon shifts finish at 6.30pm)

Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.

**About Us**:
We are a large GP training practice based in Rayleigh town centre with approximately 21,000 patients.

We have 9 GP partners, 2 salaried GPs, 1 ANP, 2 physiotherapists, 4 practice nurses, 3 HCAs, 3 phlebotomists, 5 clinical pharmacists and a large admin team of receptionists, prescription clerks, secretaries and administrators.
