FINBOURNE is looking for passionate software engineers at all levels of experience to help build the first _Consolidated Tape _(CT) for Europe's bond markets.

The CT will provide a real-time electronic record of all bonds traded on European trading venues. It will gather, normalise, analyse and redistribute the post-trade records published by exchanges, as required by the MiFID II regulations.

Our development team will be the technology arm for an industry consortium, which will include some of the most influential companies in global financial markets.

**The Project**

This is a green-field development project. The new platform will process around 5 million transaction records each day, and as a piece of market infrastructure it will demand the highest levels of availability, whilst being cost-effective for consumers.

The new platform will be hosted in AWS, and will take advantage of the latest cloud-native server technologies. The software will be developed in C# and.NET Core, with a strong emphasis on modern DevOps practices, CI/CD, and test automation.

Whilst this project is brand new, the new team will be able to collaborate with the wider FINBOURNE engineering team, drawing upon the diverse pool of knowledge and experience available.

**The Role**

This role is technically "hands-on", with no line management responsibilities (though opportunities exist to manage people and/or mentor other developers, if desired).

You will work as part of a small, close-knit, UK-based team, with the opportunity to work on all technical areas of the project, including:

- Connectivity to and consumption of trading data feeds
- Processing of incoming data into a consolidated store
- Development of ad-hoc data exploration and analysis capabilities
- Creation of data quality checks and algorithms
- Provision of downstream data delivery feeds
- Creation of Web APIs to expose functionality
- Performance tuning and cost efficiency enhancements

You will have the chance to contribute during all stages of the development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through to production operation. As such, the ability to communicate clearly, to solve problems, to work with other team members, and to organise your own time are equally as important as your technical expertise.

**What skills, experience and qualifications we require**:

- Experience of server-side development using an object-oriented language
- Experience of extract/transform/load (ETL) processes
- Passion for automation (testing, deployment etc)

Desirable:

- Experience of [or an interest in] any of the following technologies:

- C# and.NET
- Relational databases and/or data warehouses
- Kafka
- AWS services (including EKS, EC2, RDS, S3, Athena, Lambda, CloudWatch, IAM)
- Okta or other federated identity solutions
- Kubernetes
- ElasticSearch and Kibana (for logging)
- Prometheus and Grafana (for telemetry and alerting)
- Parquet file formats (or similar)
- Experience of handling proprietary messaging protocols / incoming real-time data feeds
- Experience of reliable, real-time distribution of data / outbound data feeds
- Experience of using an agile / iterative development process
- Experience of delivering highly-available, fault-tolerant systems
- Specialist financial services knowledge is not essential - we are happy to provide training as required._
