Applications are invited for the part time post of a Counselling Caseworker in the Directorate of Student Life (Wellbeing & Experience).

This is a part time role 14 hours per week (2 days) during term time (30 weeks) and is available from February 2024. Based on current student demand it is expected this will be mainly campus-based working to enable in-person counselling but there may be opportunities for some hybrid working.

The role holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary Wellbeing teams and will contribute to the positive impact this department has on the student health and wellbeing, experience, and retention. The role of Counselling Caseworker sits within the Counselling & Mental Health team and the role holder will predominantly deliver 1-2-1 counselling to students in a mix of person and online appointments (based on client preference). Our Counselling Caseworkers are expected to manage a rapidly changing client caseload, offer solution focussed sessions - mostly based on the ‘one at a time’ model of counselling - and to develop and deliver psycho-educational / skills sessions to students. Applicants should be prepared to work flexibly and efficiently to support the diverse needs of our student community and to work closely with colleagues across the department to deliver prompt and holistic wellbeing support**.**

Applicants should be:

- Experienced and able to demonstrate counselling and risk assessment skills; be confident in managing risk, making referrals, and maintain ethical practices.
- Able to demonstrate the skills to maintain professional records of casework and be able to self-manage the administration and registration processes where required.
- Able to demonstrate counselling and risk assessment skill and a high level of personal resilience.
- Prepared to work both independently and as part of the wider team and directorate.
- Ready to work with a diverse client base who present with complex and challenging circumstances.
- Prepared to contribute positively to our inclusive and welcoming University culture.

Applicant must be a fully accredited member of BACP and have excellent knowledge of, and adherence to, the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. In addition they must have a minimum of 450 hours of counselling experience and 50+ hours experience of personal therapy.
