**JOB TITLE: NPD Technologist(Maternity Cover)**

**REPORTS TO**:NPD Manager

**PURPOSE**:Development & improvement of new and existing products. You will be working closely with key customers to create and present exciting new products for launch whilst supporting the with food styling, photography & food strategy.

**PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES**:

- Developing new and innovative products in line with product briefs
- Hands on kitchen concept work to develop new products as well as upgrade existing recipes and troubleshooting product issues based on customer complaints, production inconsistencies, raw material / supplier problems or nutritional targets
- Manage EPD and related projects including re-designs, value engineering, packaging & ingredient changes, flavour improvement and build quality.
- Researching food trends and food to go market to participate in product design, benchmarking & food safaris
- Interpreting and presenting food trends to the business, making the case for new concepts to enter our short and medium term pipeline
- Manage critical paths for each launch ensuring first class execution on all product launches
- Support the Technical team to maintain product quality and regularly benchmark products
- Ensure that the correct ingredients are available on site in the correct quantity for the make-up of samples on the required day by planning and ordering ingredients from factories or suppliers
- Plan, organise and attend factory trials, pre-pros and launches, following agreed processes and standards.
- Manage recipes, costings, nutritional information, product codes & final product descriptions
- Deliver accurate and timely documentation to support customer presentations and launches
- Set up and manage a feasibility meeting bringing all relevant departments together
- Provide training & know-how to the production team on product builds and standards
- Represent NPD at taste panels and work closely with the Technical Department on all aspects of a product development and launch
- Update product ingredients, allergens, nutritionals onto our customer portals
- Finished label / artwork checking and sign off with technical department.

**EXPERIENCE**
- Educated to degree level or equivalent (such as food science) with proven concept to launch NPD experience from within a food manufacturing business. Working with chilled products is a huge bonus
- Ideal experience would include concept development, scale-up and launch of multi component products within a manufacturing environment with commercial awareness
- Project management, relationship building and communication skills are essential
- Experience of consumer trends, gap analysis and comp shop are also an advantage to ensure product launches meet the expectations of the business and customer.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of cuisines, produce, seasonality, ingredients and enthusiasm to learn about the sandwich industry and food to go market
- A result focused individual who operates with an efficient work style, coupled with attention to detail and good time management, has the ability to work to short deadlines
- Must be a clear communicator with strong presentation skills, a good representative for our business
- You have stamina to work at pace and able to juggle a number of different projects, whilst maintaining effectiveness under pressure
- Know how to research new trends and ability to generate ideas and turn them into products that work
- Good pc/systems utilisation skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong commercial awareness

**Salary**: £26,000.00-£27,000.00 per year
