Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust is looking to recruit volunteers in various roles in order to enhance patient experience and support staff. We are looking for Complementary Therapy Volunteers for The Royal Hospital.

We are looking for people with the following attributes
- Ability to communicate with all groups of people.
- Friendly, approachable personality.
- Helpful and accommodating manner.
- Sensitive, compassionate and tactful nature.
- Ability to give clear and concise directions.
- Able to work on own or part of a team.
- Work in collaboration with the staff and other volunteers
- Work within their role and organisational boundaries.
- Can provide a minimum of 4 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months
- Volunteers will be expected to adhere to trust policies and procedure especially relating to Infection Prevention and Control.

Below are some of the main duties for our volunteer roles

Complementary Therapist Volunteer
- Meeting and greeting patients and clients, including people affected by cancer
- Giving patients and carers information about the therapies on offer
- Carry out short complementary therapies on our patients either in the MacMillan Wellbeing Centre or on our In-Patient Wards.
- Carry out short complementary therapies on our staff as requested by senior ward staff.
- To maintain confidentiality, privacy and dignity of the patient/carer at all times

Volunteers provide additional, informal, lay support for patients and their families, and introduce a valuable sense of community which leads to important improvements in patient experience. The presence of volunteers brings an extra dimension to the culture and environment of the Trust and provides a vital connection between the Hospital and those communities it seeks to serve.

Volunteers extend the skills and the scale of the human resources available within the organisation and provide the opportunity to deliver a broader range of services. They offer a caring connection to patients and visitors in ways that transcend the purely clinical.

- Can provide a minimum of 3 hours per week (4 hours for Complementary therapy volunteers) for a minimum of 6 months
- Volunteers must be aged 18 and over
