We are looking for one or more Clerks to cover Academy Committee meetings at three of our schools within our Trust:
Thornden School (Winchester Road, Chandler's Ford, Eastleigh SO53 2DW)

Tanners Brook Primary School (Elmes Drive, Millbrook, Southampton SO15 4PF)

Portswood Primary School (Somerset Road, Southampton SO17 3AA)

This would involve attending Academy Committee meetings - normally 6 times a year per school - which are generally in the evenings. Whilst meetings would mainly need to be attended in person on site at the relevant school, preparation and post meeting work could be done at home. This offers considerable flexibility to suit the individual.

Each clerk could cover one or more schools, depending on how many hours they can provide.

It is anticipated that each meeting would take 7 hours in total for preparation, meeting attendance and post meeting work. The ability to do extra hours to undertake other administrative clerking duties and to cover for other Clerks within the Trust would be beneficial.

Our Academy Committee Clerks will:

- Be experienced in taking minutes
- Have excellent listening, oral and literacy skills
- Can write agendas and minutes clearly, accurately and concisely
- Can organise their own time and work to deadlines
- Can organise meetings
- Accurately keep records of governing body data and documentation
- Possess strong interpersonal skills

Responsibilities of the role include:

- Working with the chair and headteacher to prepare focused agendas for the Academy Committee meetings
- Draft minutes of meetings for approval by Chair of the meeting including an action log
- Arranging distribution of minutes within agreed timescale
- Advise the Academy Committee on process and procedure, as required
- Maintain membership records including term of office, contact details, attendance and register of business and pecuniary interests
- Liaise with Governance Lead on Academy Committee recruitment, induction and training processes
