**Job summary**:

The Advocacy Clerking Assistant provides general administrative assistance within the Crown Advocacy Unit (CAU). It acts as a point of contact for the CAU, dealing with enquiries and correspondence in a professional and courteous manner. The role will involve the preparation of the daily lists ensuing all cases are briefed to an advocate.

Working in a clerking team is fast paced and hugely rewarding. The team works closely together to find solutions to challenges, with problem solving being one of the most satisfying aspects of the work. This collaboration aids learning and self-development, and it drives the team towards the same goals. The work is interesting and varied with plenty of opportunities to engage with CPS colleagues, members of the Bar and the Judiciary.

The Crown Prosecution Service are responsible for delivering justice through the independent and effective prosecution of crime. As the principal prosecuting authority across England and Wales the nature and diversity of cases we advise on and prosecute means our work is often emotionally challenging and complex. **Job description**:

- The role purpose is to provide general administrative assistance within the Crown Advocacy Unit (CAU). To act as a point of contact for the CAU dealing with enquiries and correspondence in a professional and courteous manner. Preparation of the daily lists ensuing all cases are briefed to an advocate.
- It is essential to be able to foster, build and maintain relationships, by way of regular engagement, communication and liaison, with the internal and external stakeholders.

**Person specification**:

- On a daily basis the role will require you to annotate the daily Crown Court lists, data inputting, provide assistance in the monitoring of team performance and liaising with the Clerking Manager for cover assurance checks
- Other duties include maintaining and monitoring Crown Advocate commitments, managing correspondence and ad-hoc administrative duties as required to support the Crown Advocacy Unit
