We are looking for a new colleague to help us organise, check, and process students’ assessments, grades, and feedback in the Department of History. This is the perfect opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail and excellent interpersonal skills to p play a key role in supporting our students through their programmes.

You will join a small, supportive and hardworking team, in a thriving department, and will share this role with our current Programmes Assistant on a part-time basis. You will work closely with our Examinations and Assessments Officer, and will spend your time dealing with two main areas of administrative work: assessment support, and module choice and allocations.

The team

We are a team of around 10 professional services staff. We work closely with one another, and with our academic colleagues, in a collegiate and friendly department. You will join the undergraduate support team, and will be managed by our experienced Examinations and Assessments Officer.

The role
- You will be setting up assessment links using specialist software (Blackboard and Turnitin), and checking assessment submissions - a keen eye for detail is key
- You will record late submissions, and flag any non-submission of work to relevant colleagues
- You will liaise with our markers and external examiners to ensure all marking and moderation is completed on time, and adheres to university guidelines
- You will play a key part in our exam boards, ensuring decisions are recorded, and documents are accurate
- You will attend the department’s Undergraduate Affairs Committee, and take minutes of meetings
- You will answer student enquiries and assist with student registration
- You will monitor our module allocations and manage our module approvals

The person
- You will have excellent organisational and communication skills, and will be a good team worker
- You will be confident working with spreadsheets (Google sheets and Excel), and have a good eye for detail and experience of problem-solving
- You will be methodical in your working practices, and be able to manage your time efficiently while working in a busy office and answering student enquiries
- You will have excellent customer service skills, and will be willing to cover other roles within the team, where necessary
