We are seeking to recruit a number of dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to work on long-term, full-time roles and Ad Hoc assignments in a SEN School in Merthyr. The school supports learners between the ages of 3 and 18 years old with ASD, PDA, Global Delay Disorder and PMLD. The school itself always has a warm welcome for new staff and makes new staff feel part of the team from day one.

This particular school has roles for both immediate starts and from September 2024

**Overview**:

- **Title: Teaching Assistants**:

- Pay: £83.50 - £93.50 per day
- Location: Merthyr
- Hours: 5 days per week - Monday to Friday 830am - 330pm

**The role: What you’ll be doing as a Teaching Assistant**
- Supporting and supervising learners with ASD, PDA, Global delay Disorder or PMLD
- Assisting learners at the start of the school day and when leaving at the end of the day
- Assisting staff members in preparing the classroom for a lesson
- Working with learners in small groups and or working 1:1 with children with additional needs
- Support the class teacher in the delivery of the lessons
- Assist learners at break time with their lunch
- Engage learners with both classroom and out-of-classroom activities
- Work in accordance to the school’s behaviour management policies
- At least 3 months experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs within schools, nurseries or childcare settings, as well as Sports Teams, the Care Sector or after school groups
- Registration with the EWC (the Education Workforce Council) - we can help you with this
- References covering the last two years (no gaps)
- Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
- The right to work in the UK
