**About Us**

The Dual Imaging and Diffraction (DIAD) is one of the most advanced beamlines in the world with two independently tunable X-ray sources giving it the ability to switch between micro-X-ray Computed Tomography (XCT) and X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRD) instantly.

**About the Role**
- Participate in major beamline upgrade projects with involvement in specifications, design, installation, and commissioning
- Oversee routine operations of the beamline.
- Provide support and scientific guidance to users

It is expected that the post-holder will actively pursue scientific research and undertake fully funded professional training to aid career progression. You will have access to state-of-the-art laboratories at Diamond and across RAL. You will also have accessto Diamond's (competitive) PhD studentship funding programme and support for external grant funding through national and international funding agencies to take full advantage of the exciting international research environment at RAL. Funding is available forattending national and international conferences and workshops.

**About You**

We are particularly keen to hear from researchers with experience in using XRD for investigating granular/porous materials, carbon sequestration or battery materials.

You will also need the following: -- Good knowledge and experience in designing and performing experiments at synchrotrons or similar facilities.
- Be proficient in the post-processing and analysis of X-ray powder diffraction data using your code or off-the-shelf tools.
- Proven demonstratable track record in the use of Python at a large facility.
