**_We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Control Operations team as a Hydraulic Expert._**

**_ The role:_**

Our Control Operations team proactively monitor live water assets and network performance trends to identify developing issues, whilst implementing improvements to ensure the 3.89 million customers of Affinity Water are continually supplied with high quality drinking water.

**_ What you'll be doing:_**

As part of our Hydraulic Expert team, you will provide hydraulic expertise and advice to the Control Operations team and the wider business. You'll be responsible for diagnosing issues and using data available from the network to forecast outcomes and make strategic recommendations to mitigate impact to our customers.

You’ll be integral in how we respond to events as you’ll provide hydraulic solutions to support with incident management and offer technical guidance to operational teams. As part of our ongoing continuous improvement initiatives, you will also validate and improve hydraulic data and response procedures, whilst carrying out root cause analysis to propose site and network improvements.

In order to deliver a 24/7 expert service to the business, this role will operate on a shift roster.

(Shift working across 24/7 - 365 pattern)

This role will be currently located in Hertfordshire with the view to be located at our Hatfield site in the future.

**_ What you’ll need:_**
- You’ll have an engineering/scientific background and definite technical bias.
- Experience in the water/wastewater industry is essential as you'll bring with you a comprehensive knowledge of hydraulics, valve operation, leakage, flow and pressure behaviours.
- An understanding of water quality standards. If you have experience in a similar hydraulic modelling or network-based role, even better.
- In this highly reactive environment you’ll also be able to respond decisively under pressure to maintain operational performance.
