We are responsible for developing, delivering and supporting IT solutions for those business areas which manage HMRC’s Customs, Excise and International Trade activities.

**Job description**:
You will be a key member of the delivery team, joining our journey moving from Legacy technology to Cloud based solutions.

This is an exciting and challenging role as well as an opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives by delivering great digital products.

We are looking for individuals who are self-motivated and possess excellent interpersonal skills with a good sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality work. On-call for the important HMRC services the area support, with the occasional need to have scheduled work out of hours.

**Responsibilities**
- Lead a small team of technical colleagues and prioritise own workload.
- Develop, share and maintain technical knowledge.
- Work with colleagues to deliver solutions within the required timescales.
- Provide support for live systems, build and maintain the development environments and resolve incidents and problems.
- Provide impact analysis/estimates for enhancements and changes and undertake peer reviews.
- Build, test, document and implement solutions in accordance with the Delivery Framework and to team quality standards.
- Develop and test coding changes in accordance with program specifications and test strategies.

**Person specification**:
**Essential Criteria**:
You will already have knowledge, experience and understanding of:

- Version control
- A wide range of Operating Systems (predominantly RedHat Enterprise Linux).

A number of the following technologies:

- Common DevOps tools e.g. Jenkins, Artifactory
- One of these languages: Unix/Linux shell scripting, Perl, Python.
- Configuration management tools e.g. Ansible, Terraform
- Container based infrastructure
- Cloud Platforms

**Desirable Criteria**:

- Ideally you will also have experience of:
- Monitoring and Logging Software
- Leading and developing People

Team members that are moving offices as a result of the Locations Programme will be entitled to a Moves Adjustment Payment for three years where they incur additional costs. This is calculated based on the difference between the costs of travelling to and from the new and old office, over a weekly period.
