**Key Task***:

- At all times to maintain effective communication and liaison with the Crown Care Group home manager / deputy manager to ensure the smooth, safe, effective, responsive and caring operation of the residential care unit.
- To promote and display a professional image commensurate with the high standards of the Crown Care Group.
- To take responsibility as the prime carer to provide for one or a defined group of service users, continually assessing, developing and evaluating programmes of care.
- To provide a high standard of individualised social care, allowing the service users’ quality of life to be maximised in a caring, supportive, friendly, safe and high quality environment.
- In conjunction with the wider care team to adhere to the residential care unit’s philosophies and goals and statement of purpose.
- To assist with improving, developing and maintaining the business objectives of the residential care unit.

**Compliance**
- To comply with the Health and Social Care (Safety and Quality) Act 2015, including NICE guidelines, fire safety regulations, COSHH regulations, RIDDOR, food safety, first aid, moving and handling regulations and regulatory requirements for medical equipment and devices.
- All employees of the Crown Care Group are required to respect the confidentiality of all matters relating to the business of the residential care unit and in relation to the service users and their family and friends. Employees must therefore respect the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998.
- Employees must ensure they are fully aware of their responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and ensure that safe working practices are followed at all times.
- To fully comply with all Crown Care policies and procedures.
- At all times to uphold and promote the privacy, dignity, independence, safety and welfare of all services users and your own conduct in accordance with the Crown Care Group’s high expectations.
- To ensure the standards of the Care Quality Commission and Local Authority Contracts specifications and Safeguarding regulations and principles are upheld.
- To ensure Quality Assurance documentation is completed as per the Crown Care quality framework audit tool.
- To take responsibility for the maintenance of your own professional and clinical knowledge and to utilise this knowledge within the scope of your role.
- To display a professional attitude and encourage professional relationships with all grades of staff.

**Service User Care**
- To maintain effective communication with all service users, their families and legal representatives and professional representatives (e.g. GPs, district nurses, chiropodists, social workers, community psychiatric nurses, therapists, dieticians, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, tissue viability specialists etc.).
- To maintain care records in accordance with the Care Standards (Safety and Health) Act 2015, namely care planning, complaint recording, accident reporting, maintaining and updating residents’ personal information and all required documentation, as specified within the Act.
- To promote person centered care respecting that each person is an individual, preserving their rights, choices, dignity and independence at all times.
- To ensure all residents are dealt with courteously and expeditiously at all times.
- To provide a high standard of direct residential care to service users in consultation with the Care Home Manager, based on the assessment of care needs and in consultation with the service users, their relatives and the care team.
- To continuously evaluate the quality of care given and regularly assess the needs of service users in consultation with the service users, their relatives and the care team.
- To effectively implement change, ensuring planned goals are achieved.
- To ensure residents are provided with the appropriate / assessed medical devices / equipment which should be maintained and checked to ensure they remain in full working order.
- To ensure strict adherence to regulations governing medication administration, ordering and storage policies and procedures.
- To ensure strict adherence to the Crown Care Group home’s policies and procedures.
- To involve residents in the development of their care planning and thereafter ensure the implementation of such care plans and risk assessments.
- To conduct regular six monthly reviews and, at least, monthly care plan evaluations.
- To promote and ensure religious, cultural, emotional and psychological support for service users and their families.
- To provide safe, effective and responsive palliative end of life care, when required.
