Act as day-to-day chargehand for the Joinery Department within the Estates Building department.
Management of directly employed labour and contractors in terms of prioritising, allocating and reviewing the delivery of day to day repairs or planned maintenance to agree department response times. To organise staff work flow and stores ordering processes, purchases and goods received.
To train and develop staff in respect to Building and Engineering knowledge and protocol. To organise stores ordering processes, purchases, goods received, and give signed confirmation of receipt prior to authorisation of payment by Estates Manager.
To manage the department PPM schedules to relevant guidance.
To undertake the duties of your core trade and to assist the Estates Officer to lead and co-ordinate the day to day activities of the Building and Engineering maintenance service, outside contractors and suppliers so as to deliver a robust, technically strong customer responsive service which complies with all relevant statutory directives.
Delegated responsibility for the uninterrupted supply of essential services to the Trust and all appropriate premises maintained by the Trust via SLA.
To act independently, responsible for maintaining a controlled departmental budget and relevant health and safety issues in respect of all staff, patients and visitors who may be affected by the department’s actions. Also to monitor, guide staff and assist external contractors, in order to complete their tasks and objectives.
To possess management skills, good communication skills,
leadership qualities, and a high degree of integrity. To have a
thorough specialist technical knowledge of the Trust’s assets and services.
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life-threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
