Ophthalmic Photographer

Undertake all ophthalmic imaging scans and digital imaging for new and follow-up patient’s. Set the appropriate scan position according to diagnosis that can be used for future patient follow-up visits. Uses complex scan protocols to best demonstrate the condition and aid diagnosis. Participate in the training of new and unqualified staff. You will be a team player with an eye for detail.
Clinical
**Responsibilities**:
Carry out routine Fundus Fluorescein Angiography using highly specialised equipment to aid the clinical diagnosis.
Perform imaging tests such as Indo-cyanine Green Angiography to evaluate the choroid.
Undertake general and specialist ophthalmic imaging of the retina for clinical records.
Carry out Heidelberg Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) using the appropriate scan protocols to accurately demonstrate the clinical condition.
Undertake Heidelberg Retinal Tomography (HRT) for the acquisition and analysis of the posterior pole and especially the glaucomatous disc..
Undertake anterior segment OCT, digital slit lamp photography and oculoplastics DSLR photography to support the clinical diagnosis.
Support the Ophthalmic Research Consultant and their team in various Ophthalmic clinical trials.
Produce teaching and publication material as requested to support the Ophthalmology service.
Provide technical support and advice to ophthalmic nursing and medical staff as required.
Ensure that all equipment is used and maintained to manufacturers and Trust policy.
Work with the manufacturers to maintain the efficiency and clinical effectiveness of the imaging systems.
Assist the lead photographer with the development of an imaging library.

Managerial Administration and Responsibilities
Uphold the quality standards of this service and undertake relevant quality control procedures.
Maintain accurate records for all clinics undertaken and accurate patient records for all procedures performed
Assist with the training and supervision of new and trainee staff within the imaging service.
Assist with the backing up of all system data.
To ensure safe working environment is maintained in accordance to Trust Policy.
Liaise with medical, professional and clerical staff in all areas relating to patient care
Education and Research
Training of junior photographers, unqualified ophthalmic photographers, Optometrists and medical staff involved in the imaging service.
Work towards and gain reading centre research accreditation.
Participate in professional imaging meetings to ensure national developments are introduced to the service.
Comply with all departmental policies, standards & work to agreed protocols.
