Midday Supervisor Job Description

Job Title: Midday Supervisor (MDS)
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday - 1hr and 40 minutes per day (11.55am - 1.35pm) - 8hours and 20 minutes per week - 38 weeks/ year (Term Time Only)
Responsible to: Midday Supervisor Manager
Grade: Bucks Pay Range 1A

**Salary**: FTE salary is £18,329. Actual salary for hours worked is £3,429 paid in 12 equal instalments
Responsible for: Lunchtime dining room and playground supervision for Woodside pupils
Key contacts: School staff; pupils; external lunch providers/servers
Job Purpose The primary purpose is to ensure the safety, welfare and good conduct of all children during the midday break.

Please note that the school has outside caterers providing the lunches therefore this role does not involve any preparation, serving or washing up of the hot lunch provision.

Key Duties and Under the direction of the Midday Supervisor Manager:
**Responsibilities**:

- To prepare/set up the tables in the dining room and hall for school lunches and clear away afterwards
- To supervise the children whilst they eat their lunch, encouraging the children to eat their meal properly, to learn good table manners and to behave quietly and courteously
- Be aware of and support pupils with medical/dietary needs
- Encourage a positive attitude towards healthy eating
- To supervise and facilitate outdoor play activities during the lunch break including initiating a range of activities to enable all children to be productively and enjoyably occupied at lunch time
- Encourage the children to play in a sensible and safe way
- Follow any directions from class teachers on supporting specific pupils with challenging behaviour
- To supervise the children in the classes during an adverse weather
- Make sure children tidy up after themselves in the lunch area and when using play resources/equipment
- Ensure any lunchtime play equipment is returned to the appropriate place at the end of the lunchtime period
- To do a thorough clear up the dining room after the lunch break including clearing any food and wrappers left on the tables, chairs and floor including wiping the tables and mopping the floor
- Treat the children with respect in order to gain respect
- Follow the school’s accident procedure
- To administer first aid as required (following training)
- Patrol play areas diligently and checking toilets and classrooms

- Deal with any issues as they arise, following the guidelines set down in the school’s Behaviour Policy and guidelines raising any incidents with the Midday

Supervisor Manager for follow up with the class teachers if required.
- To follow guidelines and procedures for safeguarding in accordance with the schools policies and procedures, reporting any concerns immediately to the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
- To be willing to undertake training where appropriate in play work skills.
- To be professional at all times and a good role model to the children
- Be aware of anti-bias attitudes and an equal opportunities framework at all times and encourage them in children
- Have an understanding of and completed training in food hygiene standards
- To undertake any other relevant duties to assist the Midday SupervisorManager
