**How Citizens Advice works**

Citizens Advice Luton is a charity and part of the national Citizens Advice network. We aim to provide the advice people need for the issues they face and improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives. We provide free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities. We value diversity and promote equality and challenge discrimination.

Last year we helped nearly 10,500 clients with nearly 43,000 issues. Our main enquiry areas are charitable support, debt, benefits and housing advice. Our debt team helped 1,300 families with nearly £12.8m of arrears of which £2.6M were for priority debts.

Our service makes a real contribution to the most deprived individuals and communities and we make a real difference to people’s lives.

Through our daily interaction with clients, we have a credible understanding of local needs. We use our data and insight to tailor our services, as well as help improve policies and practices locally.

Our Trustee Board is responsible for setting the strategy and budget for the organisation. Day to day responsibility for the running of the organisation is with the Chief Executive together with the Senior Management Team.

This is an opportunity to join a successful, forward thinking local charity and be part of a professional team of both staff and volunteers.
