Journalist, Freelance Pool

Job Introduction

We’re looking for talented, flexible journalists to join our pool of freelancers at BBC Radio Northampton.

We serve one of the UK’s fastest growing and most diverse counties, from Corby in the north to the picturesque villages in the south. The station is well established and has a reputation for great entertainment programmes as well as high quality local news. Our breakfast show has been nominated for both Gillard and Aria awards.

Main Responsibilities

We need freelancers to cover project work, leave, weekends and for other ad-hoc reasons.

Whether you can read bulletins, report, produce programmes or have another radio-specific skill, we’d love to hear from you.

If you can read bulletins, we need to know you’ve got a great voice and can write clearly and concisely.

If you’re a reporter, you’ll need to ask the right questions, get the best out of the interviewee and be comfortable reporting live on location.

If you’re a programmes person, we’re looking for someone who is creative, organised and bursting with ideas.

Experience of the ViLoR studio setup, Dira and Open Media is desirable but not essential.
