HR Placement

**Location**: Duncrue Street, Belfast (however on occasion you may be required to travel to other depots throughout the group)

RiverRidge operates Northern Ireland’s most integrated waste management operation. Initially acquired in 2011, the company has undergone substantial investment over the past number of years which has transformed it from a small skip hire and landfill business to the fully integrated waste recovery operation it is today.

Today, the company is able to divert significant tonnages away from landfill through a variety of customer focused diversion solutions. The company’s commitment to landfill diversion is supported by its multi-site leading edge mechanical treatment infrastructure as well as its Belfast located waste to energy facility_._

**About the Placement**:
Throughout your placement, you will gain fantastic insight and experience working within this fast-paced waste management operation, to allow you to get the training and experience that you need to equip you for a professional career in Human Resources.

Most of your training will be ‘on-the-job’ training, working alongside our HR team, however we will endeavour to provide you with any relevant HR training that will support you during your placement.

**What can you expect to be involved in**:

- To undertake a wide range of HR tasks suited to your current level of training and development (end to end recruitment and selection processes, involvement in employee relations; participation in investigation/disciplinary and grievance hearings, absence management, performance management, HR administration and training and development)
- You will be required to work as part of the HR team, who will provide you with hands on experience to enable you to contribute to the efficient and effective running of the HR department and the RiverRidge group
- You will get the opportunity to learn from experienced and qualified HR professionals, and you will be required to provide assistance and support for a range of various HR projects
- You will work with various stakeholders throughout the group to deliver on our organisational goals and objectives
- Prepare HR related reports as and when required
- To undertake additional duties in line with capabilities as required
- To understand and comply with company policies and procedures
- To comply with all Health and Safety policies and procedures
- To attend and fully participate in any training and development as required by the role

**Essential Criteria**:

- Well organised individual who can work well under pressure
- Excellent communicator (both verbal/written) and who is willing to build strong relationships with other team members throughout the group
- Recognises the importance of confidentiality
- Excellent problem solver
- Competent in MS Office
- Must have a valid UK driving licence as this role may involve travel around all the depots to support the HR function throughout the RiverRidge group

**Desirable Criteria**:

- Familiar with HR software
- Good knowledge of NI employment legislation
