The Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of all aspects of a psychologically informed and trauma-informed approach on Felindre Acute Inpatient Unit. This will involve direct and indirect work with clients, families, ward staff, and the MDT, in additional to working closely with one or both of the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Teams (CRHTTs) in Powys.

The Principal Psychologist will provide a highly specialised Psychology Service to clients on Felindre Acute Inpatient Unit and to clients of the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team, providing:

- Specialised psychological assessment and formulation. Developing, delivering and/or overseeing the delivery of brief psychological interventions, including brief psychological groups.
- Contributing to discharge and transition plans and reports.
- Providing psychological supervision and consultation, training, advice and support to colleagues on the ward and in the CRHTT.
- Systematic governance of staff’s psychological practice, to ensure the delivery of high-quality psychology services within the framework of the team/service policies and procedures and in accordance with local and national guidelines.
- Contributing to the development of inpatient team policies and procedures to facilitate improvements in service quality.
- Advising service and professional management on aspects of the service related to the team where psychological and/or organisational matters need addressing.

The Psychology and Psychological Therapy Service is highly regarded within the Mental Health and Learning Disability Directorate. As a service, we pride ourselves on delivering person-centred and evidence-based psychological input in line with local and national legislation, policy and guidelines.

The service is committed to investing in the personal and professional development of staff through a bespoke programme of CPD, supervision and mentoring. We are also very keen to support clinicians in their clinical interests and there are opportunities to join a number of specialist clinical workstreams and steering groups, such as: Perinatal Mental Health; Complex Trauma; All Age Eating Disorder; Traumatic Stress; and Early Intervention In Psychosis.
