**Job Description**:
We are seeking experienced and highly motivated sustainability professionals to fulfil the role of Principal Sustainability Consultant in our North region sustainability team, a friendly and fast-growing team of consultants who support clients across the North of England, the UK and globally, with their transition to la ow-carbon, sustainable future.

If you have experience in sustainability and, or, net-zero carbon in the real estate, housing, public buildings or infrastructure sectors, are a big thinker with a bias for action and have worked in or around sustainability or net-zero carbon projects and programmes then we want to talk to you.

In this role you’ll be at the forefront of public and private sector organisations’ sustainability and net-zero carbon transition. The specific role will be shaped around your individual skills, experience and interests, with a range of opportunities from developing net-zero energy and ESG strategies to project delivery support on some of the UK’s most innovative, market shaping projects.

Overview of the role
- Net-zero programmes and strategy
- City or regional sustainability net-zero, or energy efficiency strategy or programmes
- Decarbonisation road mapping for building assets
- Knowledge of embodied or whole life carbon calculation or strategy on refurbishment and new build projects
- Climate risk assessment and / or climate resilience strategy
- Analysis of data sets to benchmark performance and develop investment scenarios
- Reporting and disclosure in relation to corporate sustainability, climate and ESG reporting
- Strategy/project delivery experience in the built environment
- Programme and project management and leadership including management of complex, multi-stakeholder projects
- Commission management including defining scope with the client and quality control of deliverables and outputs
- Support the development of business cases for new services areas to expand our reach including new clients and sectors
- Managing and supporting development of colleagues

**Qualifications**:
Essential
- Degree qualified or equivalent relevant work experience in a sustainability or environment related topic, with a focus on the built environment
- Firm professional grasp of the sustainability and net-zero carbon agenda
- Ability to lead and continuously improve service delivery on commissions, supporting clients and colleagues to understand and maximise sustainability impacts of projects and programmes
- Experience in a consulting or advisory role
- Effective relationship management
- Understanding on how to collate an organisational carbon footprint of scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions
- Enthusiasm for growing a team and business in a fast-moving environment
- Good commercial awareness including the ability to articulate business decisions within the wider context and market trends - our clients are spending £millions and trust us to get the best possible returns for such investment.
- Managing resources such as budget and project teams
- An enquiring mind and confidence to challenge

Desirable
- Good understanding of low and zero carbon technologies and strategies to reduce emissions in buildings
- Experience of working with corporate clients, FTSE companies or global businesses
- Knowledge of sustainability reporting guidelines and frameworks such as TCFD, SCER and ESG
- Experience of review, analysis and benchmarking energy and carbon performance, including carbon footprinting and whole life carbon assessment
- Experience of line management
- Experience of service and business development including preparing proposals
- Understanding of relevant standards and accreditations such as PAS2035, PAS2030, PAS2038
- Understanding of commercial energy modelling systems
