**Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week, flexibility required.**

**Salary: £26,576**

**Annual leave: 25 days plus bank holidays and birthday leave**

**Northumberland Domestic Abuse Service**

NDAS empowers victims to make decisions, increase their options, their confidence and safety. Prevention and awareness raising activities are also delivered across
Northumberland and counselling to the children of our service users.

Established in 2003, NDAS has a track record of providing excellent services and is a key member of domestic abuse provision in Northumberland. We have a secure financial foundation and are looking forward to developing our team to continue to provide essential services in tackling domestic abuse.

This is a new role within NDAS to deliver our awareness raising and prevention offer to children and young people, to local communities and professionals and delivering our domestic abuse programme training to our service users. We are looking for an enthusiastic and confident professional who is passionate about delivering the best possible prevention and support services.

**PURPOSE OF THE JOB**

The Prevention Practitioner will be part of NDAS delivery team including Domestic Abuse
Practitioner’s and Counsellors; working with the team to identify training needs to developing and delivering a flexible range of prevention incorporating risk reduction for children and young people, adults, community members and professionals.

**MAIN DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

1. Produce lesson plans, identify resources and deliver training and awareness raising.

2. Complete training to deliver domestic abuse training and deliver training across

Northumberland in locally situated venues or at NDAS office.

3. Provide domestic abuse awareness training in schools, youth organisations and community venues to children and young people to explore healthy relationships, building trust and confidence, domestic abuse, and build knowledge of where help is available.

4. Work closely with specialist young peoples’ services such as Northumberland Youth

Service, NE Youth, Northumberland Adolescent Services, police and others to provide specialist support and advice.

5. Provide training to professionals such as teachers, social workers, police, health practitioners etc. to increase awareness and understanding of domestic abuse.

6. Provide awareness raising to local communities to support our efforts to spread our reach and access to our support and services particularly into rural and remote areas.

7. Provide an environment that promotes physical, emotional, intellectual and social wellbeing.

8. To review programmes of work to ensure relevance.

9. To work within the legal framework relating to the protection of children and vulnerable adults as well as associated safeguarding policies and procedures.

10. To keep accurate records of work undertaken using our data monitoring system.

11. To attend team meetings and where appropriate to attend, participate and contribute to planning meetings, reviews and case conferences.

12. To implement policies and procedures of Northumberland Domestic Abuse Services including child protection, health and safety, diversity issues, equal opportunities and confidentiality.

13. To deliver services consistently in time with work plans, monitoring and evaluating performance of work including personal performances making modifications and improvements appropriately.

14. Recruit and train community members to enable them to be a local point of contact with access to resources and signposting. Facilitate workshops with Champions to provide ongoing training and development of the project.
