**The role**

We are seeking a Graduate Underwriter to join our friendly team, based in our Wilmslow office in Cheshire. Reporting to our Credit Manager you’ll be working within an experienced Credit function. You’ll learn about the credit and underwriting processes that underpins our business.

This role is part of our graduate programme - Summit. Summit provides vital skills for a career in Financial Services along with developing a great network with other Graduates across the Praetura group. You’ll have the opportunity to complete a professional qualification, as well as take part in other internal and external coaching and training sessions to support your professional development.

**Duties include but are not limited to**:

- Develop your skills within the team so that you are able to develop and achieve quality and service standards in keeping with departmental objectives.
- Liaise with credit team on issues of default, fraud and documentation to ensure that company funds are safeguarded and risks minimised.
- Keep up to date with market and portfolio trends, products, economy, introducer base by completing training and development tasks set by line manager
- Observe and support in the completion of the control of credit facility reviews and ensure that they are processed on scheduled dates and in a timely manner.
- Undertake such tasks as may be necessary from time to time or as delegated by members of the management team.

**Who we’re looking for**

Full training in the role will be provided, however the Graduate Underwriter role would suit a professional individual, who is highly analytical, with strong attention to detail. This role also involves building relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, so great interpersonal skills are crucial.
- Relevant background and a desire to kickstart your career in Financial Services (e.g., related degree OR experience).
- Strong communication and presentation skills (telephone, written, and face-to-face).
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analysis and financial skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- A collaborative team player who is able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent time management and thrives on working autonomously.
- Experience using additional business analysis or reporting tools (not essential).
