**Store Detective Daily Routine**
- Report to the Manager at the start of their shift and prior to leaving the store at the end of the day.
- Communicate with store management and uniformed officers via mobile phone.
- Remain covert and allow the uniformed security officer and management team to manage the incident
- Record all incidents on the MySecurity app
- Only record incidents they have detected (not incidents they support the guard with)
- All incidents reported should include full incident and offender descriptions.
- The store detective will review the store security dashboards on MySecurity to understand the risk and offenders in the store (accessed on instore computers using the generic guard’s login for the site)

**Colleague Safety**
- The safety of our colleagues is our main priority, it is important that you know how to respond if an incident occurs.
- In the event of a shoplifting incident, you will use your customer service skills to act as a deterrent.
- You will explain that the customer is suspected of shoplifting and with the assistance of the uniformed guard should advise them that they are recording video and audio of the incident using their body cam, and that they are also being captured on CCTV.
- You will ask the suspected shoplifter to put down the items and leave the store.
- If the suspected shoplifter becomes aggressive or fails to comply, then you should call 999 for assistance.

**Remember, at all times, that we are trying to de-escalate the situation. Colleagues and customers should be at a safe distance, with the suspected shoplifters exit route kept clear to prevent further risk. Under no circumstances should the suspected shoplifter be apprehended or restrained.
