**Main Purpose of the job**

Glen Dimplex Group is a world leader in intelligent electric heating and renewable energy solutions, as well as holding significant global market positions in domestic appliances, cooling and ventilation.

The role of Refractory/kiln operative involves loading and unloading the kiln, monitoring its performance, utilising brick-making machinery, quality checking and packing to ensure high quality goods are created within the manufacturing site.

The role also comprises loading and unloading lorries with stock.

**Accountabilities**
- Train to the required level to achieve suitable abilities to carry out varied process manufacturing operations within production.
- Loading and unloading the kiln and monitoring its performance.
- Utilising brick-making machinery, quality checking and packing to ensure high quality goods are created within the manufacturing site.
- To work with and support the existing teams to achieve daily targets.
- Maintain levels of performance as directed by line management.
- Keep records of daily performance.
- Work in a safety conscious manner being mindful of environmental impacts of the job.
- Be available to cover either shift work or overtime as required.
- Maintain standards of both time and attendance.
- Ensure all departmental tasks and functions are undertaken in a safe manner in accordance with the company Health and Safety policies, procedures and management system
- Maintain good house-keeping within throughout the department in line with 5’S best practice.

**Skills, Knowledge and Experience**

**ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**
- Experience of manual handling work.
- Good record keeper.
- Experience of working with small remote teams.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Flexible and adaptable to change and prepared to transfer from one department to another.

**DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**:

- Forklift licence
- Skid steer licence
- Health and safety certification
- Experience of brickyard work
- Experience of 7 day, 3 shift work
