**Stroke Befriending Co-ordinator**
**This is a part-time post for 2 days per week (15 hours)**
**The post attracts a salary of £24,496 p.a. pro rata with**
**an essential travel allowance of £600 p.a. pro rata**

The work will be based predominately in the East of Cornwall but you will be expected to attend our office in Truro when required.

The initial contract is funded annually to 31 March 2024, with the possible potential for an extension. Volunteer Cornwall have been running this project since 2018.

This role involves the continued development of the Stroke Befriending Project across Cornwall. Volunteer Cornwall is delivering this project for Cornwall Foundation Partnership Trust on behalf of NHS Kernow.

Based in East Cornwall, we are seeking someone with a good knowledge of supporting Stroke recovery. An understanding of the health and care system in Cornwall would be beneficial. You will talk to people who have had a Stroke to assess their suitability for the service. You will also recruit and train Stroke Befrienders to deliver a peer to peer support service to people affected by Stroke. Ultimately you need a passion for making a difference to the lives of people.

You should have excellent communication skills so that you can be understood by people with a wide range of communication needs at the same time being skilled at working with a wide range of health professionals. You need to be a good team worker, flexible in your approach and willing to learn as you go. We are looking for someone who can develop and deliver training and compile suitable resources.

You must have competent IT skills along with attention to detail and good recording keeping. Access to your own transport is essential.

**POST**:Stroke Befriending Co-ordinator (Job-Share)

**JOB PURPOSE**: Maintain and develop the Volunteer Befriending Scheme for people with stroke and aphasia working with Volunteer Cornwall on behalf of Cornwall
Partnership Foundation Trust (CPFT)

**RESPONSIBLE TO**:Support & Development Manager
(Line managed by the Early Help Hub Manager)

**DBS LEVEL**:Enhanced Adult Workforce

**ALL KEY TASKS ARE THE SHARED RESPONSIBILITY OF BOTH JOB-SHARE POST HOLDERS**

**KEY TASKS**:
**1. Communication**

1.1 To manage the recruitment and training of volunteers and develop new and exciting ways of reaching more potential volunteers, peer to peer and community.

1.2 To deliver the requirements of the Stroke Befriending contract, supporting the social needs of people who have experienced a stroke through appropriately trained volunteers
(preferably peer to peer) at home, in care homes and in the community.

1.3 To work with clients, volunteers, and professionals to develop the service in response to feedback and in line with the Changing Lives principles.

1.4 To develop, and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues in CPFT, NHS

Kernow, RCHT, Derriford, VC and associated health partner organisations.

1.5 To maintain concise records and highlight positive outcomes and impact of the work undertaken.

**2. Information Technology**

2.1 To make full use of technology available to support the efficient delivery of the project.

2.2 To provide management information as requested by NHS Kernow, CPFT and/or VC.

**3. Finance**

3.1 To work efficiently with due regard for the economical use of company time and resources.

3.2 To ensure that all information is correct for the Accounts and Administration department to invoice appropriate stakeholders.

**4. Administration and Organisation**

4.1 Ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed accurately, on time and is processed in line with our policies and procedures.

4.2 To be responsible for all volunteer recruitment, induction and support systems and associated paperwork and record-keeping.

**5. Quality Management**

5.1 To ensure that VC meets its obligations to volunteers, public and voluntary sector partners and complies with all relevant legislation relating to their activities in line with NHS, CQC and other appropriate quality standards.

5.2 To ensure that all company policies and procedures are adhered to and set a personal example in implementing them.

5.3 To work with senior management on the recording of outcomes and the measurement of the impact for the person being supported.

5.4 To ensure liaison with job-share post holder to deliver a joined-up service and develop a practical working knowledge of related posts within VC and the health system in the spirit of true partnership working.

5.5 In the spirit of good teamwork, willing to undertake all other reasonable duties as directed by the Senior Manager.
